Mission, Vission & Strategy

We promote and support health, ability and full inclusion in society for persons affected by leprosy and persons with disability.

 

NLR strives to work and coordinate activities consistently with other strategic partners or international organizations. NLR is a member organization of the International Federation of Anti- Leprosy Associations (ILEP). The disease control activities are carried out directly through the Ministry of Health and Population.

   Strategy

NLR works with governments, NGOs, research institutions and Disabled People’s Organizations.

Act in accordance with the NLR Alliance principles:

  1. We foster trust and faith in each other, mutual learning and support, and respect of different cultures and contexts;
  2. Our policies and actions are rights based and non-political. People have equal rights; whatever disease or disability they have to deal with;
  3. We include persons affected by leprosy in the development and implementation of our policies and programmes;
  4. We only work for causes of which persons affected by leprosy can benefit;
  5. In our policies and communications we aim to be positive, proactive, transparent, accountable, and promote integrity;
  6. Realising our mission is more important than the continued existence of the NLR Alliance and its members

Our Strategy

Currently, NLR Nepal is undertaking the program activities guided by the five years’ project document approved by Social Welfare Council (SWC) for the project period 2016-2020 based on Outcome Mapping PME strategy. It implements its projects through the Boundary Partners (BPs) fulfilling the requirements set by the Government of Nepal.

NLR Nepal supports Governments & local NGOs in carrying out different project activities including leprosy control & disabilities inclusive development. The emphasis is primarily on changing of the behavior, relationships & actions of Boundary Partners through capacity building. NLR strives to work and coordinate activities consistently with other strategic partners or international organizations. NLR is a member organization of the International Federation of Anti- Leprosy Associations (ILEP). The disease control activities are carried out directly through the Ministry of Health and Population. NLR maintain a strong partnership with the government health network via its leprosy control division. In the area of disabilities management, NLR partner with the National Federation of Disabled Nepal, as well as its member organizations, DPOs, and CBR organizations. NLR is a member of the Association of International NGOs) and the Nepal Leprosy Network.

NLR works with governments, NGOs, research institutions and Disabled People’s Organizations (DPOs) to promote the accessibility and quality of services via the provision of training, research and innovations. NLR develops its policies and programs in accordance with National policies harmonizing with the programs guided by different UN Conventions and other developmental agendas such as UNCRPD, MDG/SDG, CEDAW, CRC. NLR lobbies to focus for “Inclusion (enhancing opportunities, ensuring equal rights and reducing barriers)” on policy agendas at all levels.
